Cynthia
Sampson’s two favorite loves in art since she was little were
animals and bright colors. She has been told by teachers from grade school
through college and well meaning critics and friends to not use such bright
colors and to make her paintings smaller. One lady even said to her, You
paint so beautifully, why don't you do it the right way. Cynthia’s
answer was "Its fun to use intense color and it feels like the right
way for me." She has always been drawn to the natural world and art
that is bold and bright. Cynthia Sampson’s bold use of color has landed her pastel painting “Wild Horses” right on the wine label of a major U.S wine company. Ste. Michelle Wine Estates in Woodinville, Washington purchased the original as well as the exclusive rights to use Cynthia’s painting for their wine label “14 Hands” . The label is on a Merlot, a Chardonnay and a Cabernet Sauvignon. This has also gotten her attention in the publishing world. Wildlife Art magazine ran a story about Cynthia Sampson art in their May/June 2005 issue. The Pastel Journal also ran a spot news story about her art and the wine label in their June 2005 issue. |
